Intellectual Property
Foley Bezek Behle & Curtis, LLP has a diverse intellectual property practice. At one level, the firm aggressively litigates intellectual property disputes on behalf of its clients, whether to enforce intellectual property rights or defend against infringement claims. The firm has extensive experience in litigating intellectual property cases in both state and federal court, and has obtained among the largest intellectual property verdicts in the United States. At another level, the firm works with its clients to identify and secure protection for their intellectual property assets. Whether through copyright, trademark, trade secret, patent, or a combination of these, the firm formulates a comprehensive intellectual property protection program to ensure the broadest scope of protection possible. Where appropriate, the firm also assists clients in securing intellectual property protection abroad, through its relationship with intellectual property attorneys around the world.
The firm's intellectual property department is headed by Roger N. Behle, Jr., a partner of the firm. Roger has an extensive background in intellectual property issues, both as a lawyer and through his work in the entertainment industry. Through his practical experiences, Roger has gained a unique perspective on the increasingly important role intellectual property plays in all businesses. This perspective is applied to the way the firm handles intellectual property issues for its clients. Key among these is the interrelation between protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights. How and when an intellectual property right is secured can have a significant impact on the breadth and scope of enforcement options available to a client. By taking a comprehensive approach to the subject, the firm has been able to maximize those options for its clients, ultimately increasing the value of their intellectual property assets.
Roger is the former chairman (2001-2002) of the Intellectual Property Section of the Orange County Bar Association, and is a member of the Intellectual Property Sections of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association. Roger brings more than ten years' litigation experience to the firm and has obtained settlements, verdicts and judgments in excess of $15 million, including a $5.9 million jury verdict in William Hablinski Architecture v. Amir Construction, a nationally recognized copyright infringement case tried with fellow partner, Peter J. Bezek.
